About Auntie Marlene

Hello, sweetie. Since you came all this way, let me tell you a little about myself and about our Corner. ♥

I have always loved two things: small creatures, and children with big hearts. For most of my life I could only love them from a distance. Then, one quiet winter, I decided to build a place where the two could find each other. That is how Critter Corner was born, back in 2003, on a slow computer in a small room, with more love than sense!

In the beginning it was just me and six little critters I drew myself. I did not know a thing about making websites. I learned it all late at night, one broken button at a time. People told me a lady my age had no business online. Well! Look at us now.

The Corner grew faster than I ever dreamed. So many little visitors, so many names to remember. I remember every one, you know. That is a promise I made early on and I have never broken it: no child passes through my Corner without Auntie remembering them.

I could never do this alone, and I do not have to. Our wonderful sponsors keep the lights on and make sure our special critters in the Nursery are cared for. I will never be able to thank them enough. Because of them, Critter Corner has never cost a child a single coin, and it never will.

People sometimes ask me why I do this. The truth is simple. Every child deserves somewhere warm to go, somewhere that is glad they came. If your own corner of the world is not always kind, I want you to know that this one always will be. You can tell me anything here. Auntie is always listening.

Now go on and play. Your critter is waiting, and so am I.
